Working With an Agency

What Happens on a MarginSales Discovery Call (No Surprises)

A MarginSales discovery call is 30 minutes with no pitch deck. We cover four things: your goals and target market, your current outbound and what is not working, what we would actually do and a realistic number for your market, and a clear next step. You leave with a usable plan whether or not you work with us. This post is exactly what to expect, so there are no surprises when you book one.

It is for anyone considering a call with us who wants to know what they are walking into. If you are still deciding whether outbound is even right for you, read our outbound readiness scorecard first; the call will cover the same ground with your numbers.

What does the call actually cover?

Four segments over 30 minutes, in this order. It is a working session, not a presentation, so most of the time is you talking and us listening and diagnosing.

  • Your goals and market (0 to 5 minutes). What you sell, who to, and what a good outcome looks like. We need to understand the target before anything else.
  • Your current outbound (5 to 15 minutes). What you are doing today, if anything, and its rough numbers. This is where we find what is actually holding you back, and it is usually not what people expect.
  • What we would do, and a real number (15 to 25 minutes). How we would approach it, which channels would lead for your deal size, and an honest range for what to expect. Not a guarantee, a realistic number.
  • A clear next step (25 to 30 minutes). What happens if you want to proceed, and what you can do yourself if you do not. Either way you leave with direction.

What do you need to prepare?

Only what you already know. There is no brief to fill in and no deck to prepare. It helps to have three things in your head: your target market and deal size, whatever outbound you run today and its rough numbers, and what a good result would look like for you. If you have current reply or meeting numbers, bring them, because they make the diagnosis sharper; if you do not, we will work with what you have.

The more honest the picture, the more useful the call. If your current outbound is not working, telling us exactly how it is not working is what lets us pinpoint the cause. We are diagnosing, not judging.

What do you walk away with?

A usable plan, whether or not you hire us. By the end you should know whether outbound is a fit for your business, what the biggest lever is for your specific situation, and a realistic range for what a program could produce. That is genuinely useful on its own, which is the point: we would rather give you something you can act on than a vague pitch.

If we do work together, that plan becomes the starting point, and what the first month looks like is laid out in what a good outbound agency does in the first 30 days. If we do not, you still leave with the diagnosis.

What the call is not

It is not a pitch, and it is not a pressure play. We will tell you honestly if outbound is the wrong move for you right now, and if it is, we will say so and point you toward what would actually help, even when that is not us. A service business built on overselling does not last, and we would rather lose a deal than sell you a program that will not work. The questions you should ask any provider, us included, are in how to choose a sales outreach agency.

How this connects to what we do

MarginSales provides sales outreach services for companies that want to extend their outbound capacity without building the entire sales development function internally. The discovery call is how we find out whether that fit exists for you, before anyone commits to anything. The full picture of what the service includes is in what does MarginSales do and our sales outreach services guide. The call just turns that into a plan for your specific situation.

Frequently asked questions

What happens on a MarginSales discovery call?

Thirty minutes, no pitch deck. We spend the first few minutes on your goals and target market, then dig into your current outbound and what is not working, then walk through what we would actually do and a realistic number for your market, and end with a clear next step. You leave with a usable plan whether or not you decide to work with us.

Do I need to prepare anything for the call?

Only what you already know. It helps to bring your target market and deal size, whatever outbound you are doing today and its rough numbers, and what a good outcome would look like for you. If you have current reply or meeting numbers, bring them; if you do not, that is fine too. You do not need a brief or a deck.

Is the discovery call a sales pitch?

No. It is a working session. We will tell you honestly whether outbound is a fit for your business, and if it is not, we will say so and point you elsewhere. We would rather have a straight conversation that ends in a clear plan than push a program that will not work. There is no pressure and no obligation.
